A Luxury Wedding Planner's Guide to the Best Wedding Venues in Minnesota & Near the Twin Cities (2027 Edition)

If there's one question I'm asked more than any other as a luxury wedding planner, it's this: "What is your favorite wedding venue in Minnesota?" The truth? I don't have just one.

As the owner of My Event Buddee, I've spent the last decade planning and designing weddings throughout Minnesota, working alongside incredible venue teams and helping couples create celebrations that are beautiful, intentional, and unforgettable.

Before You Book Your Wedding Venue...

Before you schedule tours or fall in love with a Pinterest photo, I always encourage couples to think beyond aesthetics.

A beautiful venue is important—but an exceptional guest experience is what people will remember long after your wedding day.

When helping my clients narrow down their venue options, these are some of the things I encourage them to consider:

Guest Experience

How will your guests move throughout the day? Is there a natural transition from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception? The best venues make the day feel effortless from beginning to end.

Overall Style

Choose a venue that complements your vision rather than competes with it. Whether your dream wedding is modern, romantic, classic, or editorial, your venue should feel like an extension of your overall design.

Natural Light

Lighting makes a tremendous difference—not only for your wedding photos, but also for the overall atmosphere of your celebration.

Guest Count

The right venue should comfortably accommodate your guest list without feeling overcrowded or too empty. Every celebration feels best when the space matches the size of the event.

Indoor & Outdoor Options

Especially here in Minnesota, having beautiful backup options can make all the difference if the weather decides not to cooperate.

Overall Experience

Luxury isn't just about beautiful architecture.

It's about exceptional service, thoughtful layouts, comfortable amenities, and creating an unforgettable experience for every person who walks through the doors.

Once you've considered those things, you can begin narrowing down venues that truly fit your priorities—and that's where this list comes in.

My Favorite Luxury Wedding Venues Near the Twin Cities

Some of these are venues where I've had the privilege of planning multiple weddings, while others are venues I've toured, built relationships with, or am excited to celebrate at in the near future. Each one earned a place on this list because I genuinely believe it offers couples something special.

Rather than ranking these venues from best to worst, I've listed them in no particular order. Every venue offers something unique, and each one has the potential to create an unforgettable wedding day.

I love recommending this venue to couples who are envisioning a classic, elevated wedding with plenty of room to create an unforgettable guest experience. Even with a larger guest count, the property never feels crowded, allowing everyone to relax and fully enjoy the celebration.

Why I Love it

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best luxury wedding venue in Minnesota?

There isn't one "best" luxury wedding venue because every couple has a different vision for their wedding day. Some couples are drawn to grand estates like Bavaria Downs, while others fall in love with modern venues like The Hutton House or The Whim. The best venue is the one that complements your style, guest count, and overall wedding experience.

When should we book our wedding venue?

I always recommend beginning your venue search 12 to 18 months before your wedding date, especially if you're hoping for a Saturday during Minnesota's peak wedding season. Booking early gives you the best selection of dates and allows the rest of your planning to fall into place more easily.

Should we hire a wedding planner before booking a venue?

If it's within your budget, absolutely. One of the biggest advantages of working with a planner early is having someone who can help you compare venues beyond what you see online. We look at guest flow, logistics, design potential, vendor flexibility, and how each venue supports the overall experience you're hoping to create. Having someone guide you through that decision can save both time and costly mistakes later in the planning process.

Final Thoughts

Choosing your wedding venue is one of the most exciting decisions you'll make during the planning process. It becomes the backdrop for one of the most meaningful days of your life and influences everything from your guest experience to your overall design.

After planning and designing weddings throughout Minnesota for more than a decade, I've learned that the most memorable celebrations aren't necessarily held at the trendiest venue—they're the ones where every detail feels intentional and every guest feels welcomed.

I hope this guide gives you a starting point as you begin exploring some of Minnesota's most beautiful luxury wedding venues. Whether you've already found "the one" or you're just beginning your search, remember that your venue should feel like an extension of your story.

If you're looking for someone to help you narrow down your options, design a celebration that reflects your vision, and make the planning process feel effortless, I'd love to be part of that journey.

Happy Planning,
